Why Do Farms Close for Summer in Florida? (And What Happens Behind the Scenes)
Why We Pause for Summer in Florida
So… why do farms close in summer?
It comes down to three things: intense heat, seasonal crop cycles, and thoughtful preparation
With average soil temperatures climbing above 90°F, Florida summers create conditions that just don’t work for many of our most-loved crops—like pumpkins, sunflowers, and cool-weather veggies. Add in the high humidity and blazing sun, and it’s a tough time for plants, staff, and especially families looking for an outdoor day of fun.
Rather than asking you to push through peak heat, we use this time to pause, regroup, and grow in ways you might not see—yet.

Behind the Scenes: What We’re Growing Right Now
Even with the gates closed, the farm is very much alive.
Here’s a glimpse at what the Ananda team is working on this summer:
Tending to the Land
Our farmers are nurturing our fruit trees, enriching the soil, refining irrigation systems, and
planting vibrant new flower varieties. It’s slow, steady work that sets the stage for everything to
come.
Reimagining Food & Drink (With Families in Mind)
Expect more kid-friendly options, better-value meals, and creative seasonal dishes that
celebrate Florida’s flavors. Our food and beverage team is crafting new menus that bring
comfort, color, and farm-fresh goodness to the table.
Planning Events for Every Season
Think: themed nights, workshops, expanded fall festivals, and more. Every calendar detail we plan now adds another layer of fun when the season begins.

Coming This Fall: New Flavors, Fresh Fields & Family Fun
We’ll reopen in late September with a refreshed experience we think you’re going to love.

✅ Updated experiences designed with kids and loved ones in mind
✅ Space to connect, slow down, and create lasting memories

Our Farm Doesn’t Sleep, We Prepare
Ananda may be closed to guests, but we’re anything but still.
We’re planting, planning, prepping, and pouring ourselves into the season ahead. Because when you visit this fall, we want it to feel like the best version of what a farm can be—real, welcoming, and full of joy.
Until then, enjoy the rest of your summer adventures—and know we’ll be ready when the time is right. 🌾
With care, The Ananda Farm Team
